Forensic Specialist IV (Latent Print Examiner)
Property/Evidence Clerk
The city of Golden, CO is currently seeking applications for the position of Property/Evidence Clerk.
Closing Date: Open from September 3, 2010, until filled (posted 09/01/10)
Salary: $14.00/hr, 20-24 hours/wk
Nature of Work: Under the guidance and supervision of the Crime Scene/Evidence Specialist, assists with a multitude of duties assigned to
Property/Evidence. Utilization of processes and procedures including but not limited to: Securing, storing, and disposing of seized evidence and
property; researching and cataloging lost and stolen property to determine ownership, and releases such property to rightful owner.
Requirements: High school diploma or (G.E.D.) Two (2) years experience in records management, inventory control, or related field. Specific
experience in evidence custody preferred. Knowledge of standard and specialized computer programs and software. Ability to learn and function
within the department’s computer system. Formal training in evidence techniques working with a law enforcement agency desired.

Forensic Specialist IV (Latent Print Examiner)
The Kansas City Police Regional Criminalistics Division is seeking applicants for the position of Forensic Specialist IV (Latent Print Examiner).
Closing Date: Open until filled (posted 07/04/10)
Salary: $40,320-$71,364 plus benefits
Nature of Work: Duties include the examination of evidence for the presence of latent prints; preparation of latent print development reagents;
conducting comparisons of latent prints to finger and palm prints; entry of latent prints into AFIS; documenting findings through notes, images,
etc.; preparing written reports; testifying as an expert witness; and occasionally responding to crimes scenes.
Requirements: a bachelor's degree with science emphasis from a 4-year accredited college/university; International Association for Identification
Certification as a Latent Print Examiner. Applicants will be subject to an extensive background investigation including employment history
verification, education/training verification, criminal record check, polygraph examination, drug screening and will be required to obtain Kansas
City, Missouri residency within 9 months of employment.

FBI Latent Hit of the Year
The FBI Latent Hit of the Year
are videos that recognize officers and latent examiners in law enforcement, promotes the use of the FBI database, and encourages other agencies to submit
nominations for future Latent Hit of the Year awards.
The FBI Latent Hit of the Year award was created in response to a request from the local and state law
enforcement community for more details on major violent crime cases solved with the assistance of the Integrated Automated Fingerprint
Identification System (IAFIS). The award, which goes to an outstanding latent examiner or officer who worked the case, is presented annually
at the International Association for Identification conference. If you are interested in submitting a success story for consideration as a
"Latent Hit of the Year," contact the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services Division at FBILatentHit@leo.gov.
